Customized profile portrait rings of your family and loved ones

“Jia” is the Chinese word for family. Building on my family's love and the value Chinese and other cultures' place on family, I created this series of stackable rings. Each ring is an individual profile portrait of my family. Growing up with traditional Chinese profile portraits of my sister and me adorning our baby photo albums, I remember well the touch of the black velvety paper into which our portraits were intricately cut, "mini fur", as we called it. I still recall each detail of the portrait and wonder, “Did I really look like this from the side?", "My cheeks were never that chubby!". For me. these profile portraits are anchors to wonderful memories of a childhood embraced in my family's love. I carry the warmth of that love with me every day and these rings are an outward expression of that love. I chose different gold colours and different stones to capture the individuality of each family member. I designed them to be stackable to honor how their individuality bonds us into a family. I wear the rings on my left ring finger, simply because I am “married" to my family, forever and happily ever after.
